LAX is one of the largest airports in the United States and one of the busiest for long distance flights. If you’re headed anywhere in the South Pacific, Asia, or to Europe from the west coast, chances are you’ll be departing or connecting here. Long-distance travel calls for a great lounge and thankfully, LAX has one of the best in the entire US – The Star Alliance Lounge at LAX.
Located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), the Star Alliance Lounge at LAX offers excellence in every aspect of its design from the moment you check in. From style, atmosphere, to the quality of food and drink on offer, this lounge has it all.
Food and Drink
Compared with your standard airline lounge, the sheer volume and options of food and drink on offer here blows away the competition and is quite simply the best you’ll find anywhere in the country. Featuring a seasonal and rotating menu of locally sourced main entrees, the menu is fresh and appetizing.
Options include a wide variety of salads, hot and cold starters, a wide variety of meat and fish dishes, various curries, and an impressive dessert bar. There is also a Vietnamese pho noodle bar, where you can make the soup to your taste – a nice added touch.
You won’t lack for choices – the sheer quantity and variety of food on display for an airport lounge is simply unparalleled.
Coffee, tea, and wine/liquor are all self-service.
The lounge offers ample space for seating and dining, with plenty of tables spaced within and outside the dining area.
There are also several secluded areas with lounge chairs and couches, and a modern relaxation room if you just want to unwind with TV on the big screen. Full shower suites are also available on demand.
Just outside the dining area is a wraparound indoor terrace overlooking the international terminal with a great view of the main hall. The lounge’s main bar is fittingly located here and spans nearly the entire width of the terrace – the perfect spot to enjoy a preflight drink and relax while seated above all the hustle and bustle. With a modern look and open-air feel, it all blends in seamlessly with the view and the luxurious surroundings of high-end stores below.
Drinks selection is impressive, but the lounge’s wine selection (on display indoors surrounding the entire food area), is even more so.
The indoor terrace is impressive but the lounge’s signature feature, and its most unique, is the outdoor terrace. Reminiscent of the Delta Sky Deck at JFK, it offers travelers a rare opportunity to enjoy an outdoor lounge experience at the airport.
There are plenty of seating options and a standalone bar where customers can bring their drinks, so it rarely feels crowded. The terrace also features a waterfall and several fire pits for nighttime visits when temperatures drop. Combined with the view of the Hollywood Hills, the terrace has a very cool, very LA feel to it and really is the ideal to start (or continue) your journey.
This is without doubt one of the best and most memorable lounges in all of North America, with the potential to become an iconic spot for travelers in years to come. Be sure to visit with plenty of time before your flight – you won’t want to leave.
