Below, we’ve listed a selection of the best rooftop bars San Diego has to offer. Pick one that suits your needs, grab a drink and enjoy the spectacular views.
Altitude Sky Lounge
If you’re looking for breathtaking views of the city, Altitude Sky Lounge is the bar for you. Situated 22 floors up, this rooftop bar offers you an expansive view of the whole city including sweeping views of the bay, and a great view of Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres and one of the top stadiums in all of Major League Baseball.
The atmosphere is modern, and the bar features a fire pit which adds a nice, unique touch. Famous DJs regularly make appearances and the house cocktails are definitely worth a try. Parking is exceptionally difficult in this crowded part of town, so keep it simple and take a taxi.
Named after John Nolen, one of San Diego’s pioneer city planners, The Nolen is perched on the 14th floor of the newly-constructed convention center. Like Altitude Sky Lounge, it’s a rooftop lounge bar with stunning city views, all the way from Coronado Bridge to Point Loma. While the Nolen is not as high as Altitude, it does have more seating and a fireplace, giving it a more of a chilled out vibe.
This bar is stylish and relaxed, with classic modern decor and a sophisticated atmosphere. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a sunset drink.
The Rooftop by STK
If a day by the pool in a luxurious ambiance sounds more your thing, check out The Rooftop by STK. It’s a luxury rooftop bar situated on top of the Andaz Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter. The view here really is spectacular. During the day, you can kick back with a few drinks, enjoy lunch, swim, and sunbathe. Head to The Rooftop by STK at night, and you’ll step into a chic nightclub.
Top of the Hyatt
Overlooking San Diego Harbor, Top of the Hyatt is an upscale bar. Service is prompt and attentive and the food never disappoints. Head down in the early evening to enjoy a stunning sunset view. Bear in mind this venue is popular and it can be difficult to find seating at busy times, so it’s worth reserving a table in advance.
